Tried & Tested - LUXURY REFLEXOLOGY

Luxury Reflexology

If you are looking for treatment that leaves you feeling revitalised and relaxed, then this is for you!  I usually choose to have a back, neck and shoulder massage to relax and relieve tension, but thought I would give this a try; and I’m so glad I did.

I was showed into the treatment room which was warm, dimly lit, and where relaxing background music was playing.  Once I’d changed into my robe, I sat with my feet in a basin of warm water full of hot stones; my feet and lower legs were cleansed and exfoliated with a salt scrub.  I then moved to the couch under a warm blanket, and cooling pads were placed over me eyes.  Next, a foot massage to loosen any tension before the reflexology begins.  Reflexology is an ancient treatment which heals and relieves; this is a non-intrusive health therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet correspond with different areas of the body.  The therapist then applies pressure to all areas of your feet starting at the heel, and working up to the toes, first right, then left.  This is a wonderful sensation, and you don’t want it to stop.  The therapist is feeling for crystals under the skin, and if found the area is massaged until the crystals disperse.  This eradicates toxins from the body which may be making you feel sluggish, tired, and under the weather.

Just when you think things can’t get any better, you are then treated to the most wonderful hot stones massage of the feet – this was sheer bliss, and I definitely did not want this to end.  In fact, I was so relaxed I was struggling to stay awake!

At the end of the treatment the therapist told me which areas of my feet, and therefore corresponding areas of my body, she had found crystals which she’d then dispersed with massage; in my case it was my right hip/leg and my right shoulder.  I couldn’t believe how accurate this was, as I was attending my GP for pain in my right hip; and my right shoulder has been troublesome for some time too.

The therapist then advised that I had to drink lots of water to help my body eradicate toxins following the reflexology.

I will definitely have this treatment again, and I felt amazing afterwards.  I urge you all to try this at least once – you will not be disappointed!

Q&A

How can I safely remove my shellac without damaging my nails?

Betti Tomori, therapist at out Lerwick Salon says 'To remove your shellac at home properly you will need tinfoil, acetone, a wooden or plastic cuticle stick and cotton wool. We also sell a removal kit at Sleeping Beauty including everything you need.

Soak the cotton wool in the acetone first and put it on to the nails and wrap the fingers in tinfoil. Leave this on for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes scrape it off with wooden stick. Use cuticle oil after to hydrate the nails.

We also do the removal for free with our shellac application, so nobody should try to peel them off at home, as this may damage the nails.'

What is a Lash Lift Perm?

Junior Therapist Zoe Finlayson at the Margaret Street Salon says

'The lash lift perm is a low maintenance way of giving length, lift and curl to the lashes. This also looks good with a lash tint as it can save you from putting on mascara each day. This treatment should last about 2/3 months.
