Q&A

How can I safely remove my shellac without damaging my nails?

Betti Tomori, therapist at out Lerwick Salon says 'To remove your shellac at home properly you will need tinfoil, acetone, a wooden or plastic cuticle stick and cotton wool. We also sell a removal kit at Sleeping Beauty including everything you need.

Soak the cotton wool in the acetone first and put it on to the nails and wrap the fingers in tinfoil. Leave this on for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes scrape it off with wooden stick. Use cuticle oil after to hydrate the nails.

We also do the removal for free with our shellac application, so nobody should try to peel them off at home, as this may damage the nails.'
