We all understand the importance superfoods for a healthy diet, but did you know the new Elemis Superfood Skincare System now lets you add them to your skincare routine?
The four ‘at home’ products in the new Elemis Superfood Skincare System are packed with plant-based, nutrient-dense superfoods. We asked four of our Sleeping Beauty Aviemore therapists to put them through their paces and give you their verdict.
They clearly were impressed…
Elemis Superfood Kefir-Tea Mist
Therapist Helen enthuses about this nourishing vegan friendly hydrating mist, “It’s fortified with anti-oxidant rich Rooibos Tea extract and Kefir Ferment which helped soothe and brighten my complexion, while organic aloe vera, coconut water balanced and hydrated my skin.”
Helen recommends using this highly concentrated 4-in-1 treatment mist as a toner, primer, setting spray and on the go hydrating mist for an outdoor-fresh glow. “I’ll definitely be adding this to my skincare routine and love that it’s vegan-friendly.”
Kefir soothes, tones and balances, while Rooibos is a rich source of antioxidants and brightens the skin.
Not heard of Kefir before? It’s a cultured, fermented milk drink similar to yogurt with a tart, sour taste and a slight fizz. A good source of calcium, Kefir is rich in probiotic bacteria.Aloe Vera has long been used for soothing and moisturising the skin. These benefits are associated with Polysaccharides (specifically Acemannan) contained within the Aloe.
Coconut water’s high nutrient, mineral and moisture content hydrates and replenishes essential moisture for a dewy-fresh complexion.
Elemis Superfood Blackcurrant Jelly Exfoliator
Louise was super keen to test this power-packed nourishing facial exfoliator brimming with anti- oxidant rich superfoods, including Blackcurrant, Nordic Bilberry and Black Tea extract.
“The sustainably-sourced Blackcurrant fruit pulp scrub gently exfoliates dead skin cells revealing a super smooth and radiant complexion,” explains Louise. “Black Currant Seed oil is renowned for its high Gamma Linolenic Acid (an omega-6 essential fatty acid) which naturally helps support the skin’s moisture barrier. I love the fruity fresh scent too.” [Lilac does it smell nice?]
Black tea extract is rich in antioxidant Polyphenol compounds which again help brighten skin. The anti-oxidant, anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory properties present in the extract help keep skin healthy and glowing.
“Green tea is super-rich in Catechins and Polyphenols, two antioxidants that are known to fight acne and ageing,” explains Louise, “so add green tea to your diet too for an extra boost.”Bilberry extract, naturally high in vitamins and minerals, nourishes skin by locking in moisture and rehydrating skin for a radiant glow.
High in fibre dark berries are naturally high in antioxidants and disease-fighting nutrients. Add them to yogurt, cereals, porridge and smoothies. And did you know it is just as healthy to buy them frozen?
The new Elemis Superfoods System also features two facial masks:
Elemis Superfood Vital Veggie Mask
Kira loved this nourishing mask which she recommends using twice weekly on cleansed skin. “I experienced a slight tingling sensation while the mask worked its magic for 10 minutes, then I just wiped it clean with a damp cloth. So easy and quick – perfect for my busy lifestyle.”
She adds, “A blend of green vegetable extracts and nutritionally powerful rich seed oils calm, nourish and hydrate my skin leaving it with an instant radiant glow.”
Avocado & Chia Seed oils rich in omega fatty acids 6 and 9 lock in hydration to soften, smooth and moisturise while reviving dull, lacklustre skin.
Organic Pumpkin Seed oil is rich in vitamins, omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids, antioxidants and sterols as well as being an excellent source of zinc, one of the most important minerals for maintaining healthy, happy skin explains Kira.
Sprinkle pumpkin seeds onto salad and soup for a healthy addition to your diet. They’re delicious lightly toasted in a dry frying pan for a couple of minutes so as not to damage their omega content.Broccoli seed oil is a light, non-greasy oil that forms a protective layer that helps to trap in moisture and keep skin hydrated.
Kira suggests, “Give your body an extra hand with Broccoli. Rich in magnesium and Vitamin C, which is known to help fight infections and viruses, it’s one of the most powerful immunity boosters available. I love it in stir fries, soups, raw in salads and lightly steamed as a side dish. It’s packed with Vitamin C which helps the production of interferon, an antibody that blocks viruses and infections from getting deep into cells – perfect for staving off those winter bugs and colds.”
Elemis Superfood Berry Boost Mask
Nadia tested this purifying mask and declared it, “A wonderful detox for my skin!”
It helps balance and clarify the T-Zone with Blackcurrant Seed oil, rich in omega fatty acids, to hydrate and leave skin healthy looking.
Nadia explains, “A blend of antioxidant rich Superberry extracts delivers powerful antioxidants to the skin while omega-rich Grain oils help to deeply nourish. My skin felt softer and looking plumped - I really loved the results.”
Concentrated passion fruit, grape and pineapple acids leave skin with an instant radiant glow.
Sustainably-sourced Black Currant seed oil and Nordic Bilberry extract (a wild blueberry that grows in Finnish forests), both rich in omega-6 essential fatty acid, hydrate and nourish for healthy looking skin.
Brazilian Purple Clay helps to naturally absorb excess oil and impurities in the T-Zone and minimise the appearance of pores.
